Product of the Week!

We can all agree that the weather this past week as been beyond gorgeous! Sunny, warm and very uncharacteristic for March on the east coast! Although this weather leaves very little to complain about, one thing that is less than desirable is oily skin! That's why I have chosen Maybelline's Dream Matte Powder as the product of the week! I apply this powder using a patting motion to my T-zone with a large fluffy brush after applying my foundation. It really helps to reduce shine and oiliness throughout the day without making your skin look cakey. I highly recommend this product because it is inexpensive and effective!

Secret Beauty Tip for clear skin!

After washing your face or at the end of your shower rinse your face with ice cold water. This will help reduce the appearance of pores, decrease puffiness and decrease breakouts! I have been doing this for several weeks now and it seems to work well!

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow: Swatches and Review!

First impression, this is a very interesting and different product! When you open the jar there is a little "stamper" type thing that, i think, works to keep the eyeshadow compact. This product looks like a powder eyeshadow that has been somehow sealed together to make a solid (so hard to explain!) It has a very velvety texture and produces a lot of pigment with great color payoff. I chose to purchase 3 of these because CVS was having a buy one get one 50% off (originally $6.99 each)! The colors I got are:

Iced Latte: This color has a pearly iridescence that the camera doesn't really capture. I don't have a color quite like this so I REALLY like it just from the swatches!
Perpetual Purple: This is a deep purple with very subtle shimmer. I think this color would work well as a lash or crease defining color.
Sultry Smoke: This color is completely matte and has great color payoff. It is a mix between taupe (which I am obsessed with) and grey.

This product claims to last 24hrs so I will try them out and see how they last!

IMPRESSive Nails! UPDATE

So, its been a few days and I wanted to give an update on the lasting power of these nails. I think I have come to the conclusion that these nails are best for a one time thing. If you want great looking nails for a special occasion, or just for a day or two without going through the trouble of getting a manicure, these are perfect (wedding, night out, interview ect.)! If you want something that will last a week or so, these are not for you. I wore them to babysitting and by the end of the night I had already lost 2 nails! I did wear them to bed and they stayed on through the night. They are a bit cumbersome because they are quite long(at least for me) but they aren't part of your nail as acrylics would be. So, they make certain things difficult and if you push too hard on the tops they will pop off. Like I said before, these are really best served for short term use. If you want fun nails that will last much longer I would recommend the Sally Hanson stick on nail "tattoos" that you can find at CVS! Hope this helps!! xx

I have been seeing tons of commercials for these Impress stick on nails promot-
ed by Nicole Scherzinger. I finally saw them at CVS and decided to give them a go! They seem to adhere well to the nail and feel pretty secure. However, they are longer than I would normally where my nails so they have the look of acrylic nails more than a natural manicure. Also, I have pretty small nails and it seems as though some don't quite fit my full nail (you'll see in pic) so I am not sure how these would work for someone with larger nails. My thumb nails are longer than the rest of my nails and they are very visible underneath the false nail when viewed from the top or side (also shown in pic). A remedy for this would just to be sure your nails are good and short before using these! I am not sure how long they last, but I will update this post letting you guys know after I have worn them for a bit (how they hold up in the shower, do they last overnight ect.)! The package comes with (from what it looks like) enough nails for 2-3 usages, which is nice! The price for this product is $7.99 at C
VS. I chose the french manicure look but there were quite a few patterned options to choose from. I was
disappointed that there weren't more solid colored ones, but hopefully the selection will bulk up if they are successful. Hope this is helpful and maybe some of you will try these out! Please leave your thoughts and comments!

Want Bigger Lashes? Must Have For Spring!

Product: Ready to Wear Lash Extension

I was flicking through the channels one day and stopped briefly on HSN when they were discussing this product. Of course, being a makeup addict, I had to stop and watch for a few minutes. I was so interested by this mascara that I decided to give it a try and order it! I am generally really happy with the results! This is a very unique product in that it uses fibers that bond to your lashes instead of a liquid substance like regular mascara. I wouldn't normally spend over $20.00 on a mascara (drug store brands seem to work great for me), but this really is a neat product for building full and long lashes!

Price: $22.50

Application: Apply one coat of your regular mascara, a few coats of the Lash Extension, and another coat of mascara to seal the fibers on your lashes.

Negatives: Lashes may appear a bit clumpy after using this product. Also, the fibers will fall onto your cheeks. They do not smear as a regular mascara would, but the fibers may stick to your foundation or face lotion and become difficult to remove. I would recommend holding a tissue underneath your eye when you apply this.

The pictures show an eye with one coat of regular mascara, and then after using Lash Extension and also a comparison shot with both eyes.
