New MAC Palette: Call me Bubbles
I normally wouldn't think to buy bright pink or orange eyeshadow, but a makeup artist at MAC used these colors when she did my makeup and I loved how they looked together! When they are blended, they create a soft orange, bronze color that reminds me of a sunset! Its a perfect look for upcoming spring weather! :-) I also LOVE the packaging. The palette feels very high quality. It has some weight to it and it has a magnetic closure. I love the uniqueness of the colors and I think these are great ones to have in your collection! (Price: $38.00)

Zac Posen Runway inspired makeup!
Birchbox sent out an e-mail inviting beauty bloggers and youtubers to have a go at a runway look from Spring 2012 fashion week! I found this look from Zac Posen's fashion show and though it would be a fun one to try! The makeup from the real Zac Posen show was found at:
post/17605129791/zac-posen-aw12-new-york-fashion-week#!imgl0 (MAC Tumblr)
I definitely didn't get it exactly right, but I gave it my best shot! It's fun to experiment with different and unique looks :-)

NARS lipstick: Madere: NOT CUTE! (on me)
Typically, I love NARS lipsticks! I had never tried the Pure Matte Lipstick of theirs before but I saw it in a magazine in the color Madere and really like how it looked on the model. I am quite shy with lipsticks and rarely wear them because I feel like most colors look super bright pink or red on me and I end up looking like a clown/hooker. On the model, this color looked like a really subtle nude, so I thought I should check it out! When I swatched it on my hand in Sephora I loved it, it was a nude/pinkish color. I didn't even bother trying it out on my lips! When I got in the car I couldn't wait so I put it on right away. YIKES! NOT CUTE! It completely highlighted all the dry patches on my lips and went on streaky instead of uniform and smoothly. It also paled out my lips so much I looked like a half-dead zombie!! Needless to say, this was NOT the color for me! Luckily, Sephora lets you return things you have tried and for a $25 lipstick I am not waiting around to see if it grows on me :-)
The picture I am posting makes this lipstick look a lot better than it actually does in real life because you can't see the dry patches and streaky-ness of it. However you CAN see how much it pales my lips, they blend into my skin!
Anyways, this would probably be a great color for someone else, and if anyone else has tried it I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section!!!

Getting your Beauty Rest!

1. Don't drink coffee after 3pm
-If you are like me and really enjoy an afternoon coffee, opt for decaf! But beware of decaf coffees from Starbucks, I have found (the hard way) that they can have the same effect on falling asleep as drinking a regular coffee can when consumed in the late afternoon
2. Have a cup of warm tea before bed
-Go for a tension tamer(such as from the brand Celestial that you can find at Stop and Shop)or Chamomile
-I have found that tea with honey can help put you in a calm and relaxed state that gets you in the mood for bedtime
-Another note: I usually drink my tea around 8:30pm instead of directly before getting into bed. I do this because tea tends to "go right through you" like coffee and soda (aka it makes you pee a lot). So, to avoid those 7 trips to the bathroom which will only prolong the falling-to-sleep process (and make your significant other/roommate significantly annoyed!), have your tea an hour-hour and a half before you plan on getting into bed.
3. Give yourself wind down time
-You may be very busy right up until the time you need to get into bed, whether its with homework, your job, or a social event. However, I think it is really important to give yourself at least 30 minutes of "detox" before trying to fall asleep. This may involve surfing the internet, going on Twitter, even knitting! Whatever takes your mind off of the million things you have to do the next day and allows you to zone out will suffice!
4. Avoid naps
-Trust me, anyone that knows me knows that I ADORE naps. That wonderful time in the middle of the day when you can become dead to the world and fall into the most relaxed state you can imagine! HOWEVER, as insanely pleasurable as naps are, they will make it more difficult for you to fall asleep at night.
5. Count!
-It turns out there is some truth to that old adage of counting sheep before bed! I have found that when my mind is really racing about a million different things, focusing on counting and deep breathing helps to bring you down a notch and get closer to falling asleep.

-How to: Simply try and focus your mind completely on counting (forwards or backwards) while taking deep breaths. Your mind will naturally want to wander back to the other things, but consciously try and think only about the numbers. This will help decrease the anxiety surrounding your to-do list for the following day because you won't be running lists in your mind.
Hope this helps! Leave comments below of your tips and tricks for a great night sleep!

Drug Store Gems: Maybelline Color Tattoo
Drug stores are really stepping it up a knotch and producing some AMAZING products! Color tattoos are cream/gel based eyeshadows reminiscent of MAC's paint pots. They have a stickier consistency than paint pots and tend to go on a bit thicker. I think this stickyness helps to create a better base for eyeshadow than paint pots do. Also, the colors are amazing! I put my MAC paint pot (in Rubenesque) on the swatch picture for comparison and you can see that the Color Tattoos produce as good if not better color pay off! And not to mention, the price! Paint pots are roughly $10 more than Color Tattoos (around $7). My favorite color so far has to be the Tough as Taupe. It's a matte shade that looks like a mix of brown and grey. It is a PERFECT base for so many eye makeup looks! (if you want to see more of the Tough as Taupe, I apply it in this video: watch?v=vl3lWUITh98

You can snag Maybelline Color Tattoos at any local drug store or Target!
The swatch shows in order from left to right: Tough as Taupe, Too Cool, Tenacious Teal, Pomegranite Punk and the MAC paint pot in Rubenesque
